Formatted and re-installing Windows XP on my 6 year old HP PC. Installing update 1 of 75…yikes! It restarted ultra-fast without any updates installed…I wonder what it’ll be like after this little lot have chugged their way through?
And another thing — on Windows Update, who the hell thinks THIS means ANYTHING to all but the most geeky programmers?
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 is a full cumulative update that contains many new features building incrementally upon .NET Framework 2.0, 3.0, 3.5, and includes cumulative servicing updates to the .NET Framework 2.0 and .NET Framework 3.0 subcomponents. The .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update provides important application compatibility updates. This combined Service Pack and update is applicable to .NET versions 2.0 through 3.5.
Now, I have no idea what this is. I use the PC to go on the web, edit audio and videos. I don’t even know if I have .NET Framework on it. Errr…why would installing this benefit me or the PC in any way? Seems to me it will fill it up with up to 65Mb of guff. I don’t even know if any programs use it?
Just a major WTF.
