I don’t know how LinkedIn works.
Here is why:
I’m a supplier of products. I am ‘connected’ to and in communication with my suppliers simply by virtue of the day-to-day running of my business. My customers want to connect with me on LinkedIn. If I accept their connection, they see all of my suppliers contacts and can simply go over my head and deal directly with them! I always thought contacts were very important in businesses, but the whole theory behind LinkedIn seems to literally publicise your rolodex to all your customers and potentially competition to see who you know. Unless you keep them both mutually exclusive – ie only connect with suppliers, or only connect with customers. I mean, I’ve found out some of my suppliers suppliers, and also added some of their customers hoping that they’ll buy from me next time. Madness.
